Restoring A 200 Year Old Oil Painting Portrait: Oil Painting Restoration Blog #4
Antique oil painting portraits often have a history of restoration and repairs. This circa 1810 portrait had severe damage in the past, and at least one major restoration to repair a large section of lost canvas. Oil painting conservator Bruce Wood describes what he discovered while working on the portrait, and how he remedied the problems.
